Thumb spica H1

1. Function:

-  Immobilize bone, joint of thumb, wrist.

2. Indications:

-  First aid, immobilize broken bone, thumb sprain, muscle and wrist.

-  Immobilize bone, joint around wrist, palm and thumb after surgery or injury.

3. Material:

-  Aluminum splint, non-woven fabric, mesh fabric.

-  Velcro lock.

4. Storage:

-  Putting in dry place.

-  Washing by hands with soap and water, drying in cool place.

-  Do not wash and dry by washing machine (Not using chemical while washing).

5. Instruction:

- Posture of patient: Sitting or lying, hand face up.

- Check splint: Choose the same size and side with the injured arm. Take splint out of the bag, check and let the straps in open position.

Step 1: Put the hand into splint so that the thumb fits into the hole and adjust at the same time in order that the muscle is covered totally by the fabric of splint.

Step 2: Use straps to fix splint tightly to wrist then forearm and hand.

Step 3: Immobilize thumb into splint by straps.

Step 4: Check again the tightness of each strap, make sure that it is tight enough without pain or blocking blood flow.
